Default The benefits of servicing and addtives

From 5th Gear.

BHP tests taken with a standard car giving 177bhp, then after Redex (183), a fresh oil and filter change (185) and new plugs and leads, taking it to 188.7bhp.

Not exactly a controlled experiment. A cheapo dyno, no account taken of air pressure, humidity or temperature.

As Chopper says not exactly a scientific experiment due to varying air qualities etc etc but definately an argument for routine maintainance! I have always thought that my cars have performed better after a service but thought that it was a placebo but after watching that it shows i was actually returning some of the lost power to the engine!!! He did say in the video that the machine compensates for changes in temperature.

In real terms your not going to notice 10hp I get a bigger gain than that just by taking my legacy out on a cold night rather than a hot day

cold air = denser charge = better fuelling = more power but to be fair legacy turbos always run rich so its just getting the fuel ratio back to where it should be with the denser air .
