my reply was "no thanks love i`ll hold on to them"

'Inexperienced' RBS tech operative's blunder led to banking meltdown

'Inexperienced' RBS tech operative's blunder led to banking meltdown ? The Register

I've been reading tales of woe on a regional forum and am staggered that so many people keep all their money in one account - but then again this forum is full of people who only have one car key, one house key, no backup of their data and then start posting questions asking what they should do when they lose any of the above.

Is it just me who has accounts with two different banks and the foresight to make sure I have a bit of redundancy built into my life?

ive got 2 accounts, with same bank mind...one to get all my money the other to transfer funds to, where my direct debits are linked....kinda budgetting if that makes sense

ive got 3 keys for my car, 2 are clones of my original. 1 is on my key ring, 1 on my dads the other at home in a safe. got 3 house keys aswell same but spare is with a family member.

i back my data up on a network hdd and on regular basis put things on dvd.

i too like a bit of redundancy in my life...must be the IT Tech side from the RAF coming through

I have copies/backups for almost everything, other than bank account
But there again, do have a credit card, so that would keep me out the s**t for a while

I set up a simple savings account with Sainsburys bank years ago and set up a standing order to move 10 a week from my regular bank account into it.

Just remember not to carry the card in your wallet (in case you lose it!), leave with a trusted friend!
