Hello All,

I have a 307, model 2007, 1400cc, 16V, 90HP, Gasoline, since the beginning of 2013.
So far although I was going for car service only to official Peugeot service, they were using a 10W40 oil.
Today I went to a non certified dealer who informed me that for the type of my car, the 10W40 is no good and I need to use Total's 0W30 or 5W30. My car’s frame No is the following : VF33CKFUC84933042. Can you please help me on this subject ?
And a bit of info : In 13.300Km it consumed 1Lit of 10w40 ! The overall Km of the car is 93.500Km. The motor is in quite fine condition.

Thanks in advance

a litre is quite a bit. some engines burn oil more then others so a litre probably isnt the end of the world

because yours is petrol it doesnt matter too much. normally peugeot show a table to do with your countries climate

i run 10w40 in my 2.0hdi with no issues. my 1.6hdi runs 5w30 c2 because of the dpf

im a lover of 5w40 oil if no specific oil is needed. its cheap now fully synthetic and meets all needs. halfords had 4 litres recently for £10 euro car parts do 5 litres for £12.50

halfords recommend 5w40 or 0w40. 5w40 is by far the cheapest of the 2 and will be mighty fine for your motor

if you experience a higher oil usage id go back to 10w40

I also use 5w40 fully synthetic in my 2003 2L 90bhp diesel Pug 307.

You can go on three oil manufacturer or motor accessories website, put in your car details and get three answers. I did a check earlier this week and was suggested 5w40, 10w40, 5w30 in a combination of semi synthetic or fully synthetic.
