I have gone back to using my 2008 peugeot 207 1.4 sport petrol model. I am used to having a diesel but I heard the 1.4 petrol models were good with fuel economy?
After using for about 2 weeks, i am noticing a rather large hole in my pocket from the fuel the car is consuming even just at normal town and motorway journeys!
is there a problem to solve this or can you get a remap to improve economy ?
30 mpg is crap, I was getting that from a discovery - is that properly calculated (brim tank, drive a couple of hundred miles, brim again to see what you've used)?
I'd say you should be getting at least 40mpg with mixed driving. At least, just so long as you're binary driving...
I've got a 207 1.4 vti and get about 32 mpg doing short journeys and maybe 40 mpg on a good run. They are not good on fuel basically, been a few threads on here with people with the same issue.
I've got a 2006 207 1.4 16v s which is the non vti model. I was getting low 30s mixed driving (mostly journeys less than 10-15 mins driving) I actually put a post on here about it as i was sick of the poor fuel economy, i changed petrol stations and it went up to high 30s. So try a different brand of fuel! My trip computer currently reads 38.1 mpg, if i'm careful i can get it above 40 mpg, not too bad considering its quite a heavy car.
Another possibility is you have a faulty sensor somewhere. I got a planet Peugeot diagnostic kit off eBay for £40
For what it's worth I drive a 2007 1.4 16V S non VVTI too and I'm getting just over 39mpg with a combination of motorway and town driving. I don't drive particularly carefully so suspect I could get maybe 42mpg if I eased off a bit. Supermarket fuel, mainly.
Edit: Interesting thought about the fuel from Izapugzlife - you aren't using the high octane 98 RON stuff, are you? I think the 207 is calibrated to run on 95 RON fuel; maybe different grades would cause it to do strange things?
I'm not sure but i always go with the cheapest fuel if there's a choice so i imagine that means its the 95 fuel. I've recently had tracking, tyres and a Peugeot recommended total brand 5/30 oil change, so maybe them help too.
I normally run mine on 95RON but this time have filled it with about half a tank of 98RON fuel. No noticeable difference but the fuel consumption had dropped by about 3mpg, but is slowly creeping back up, which is odd.
My 1.4 VTi is thirstier than my RCZ-R, though you have to work it harder than the EP6 engine, it still showed around 37/38mpg on the motorway (the R will do 44+mpg on the same sort of run out).
Well today is the day im going to do some decent motorway miles in her after her major service, mixed driving is now giving me 36-37mpg according to the trip computer so am expecting 40+ on the motorway now
So yesterday and today, having put a bottle of redex in the tank, traffic was a little heavy in parts but made a respectable 45.5mpg on a good motorway run out, according to the trip computer, which is a vast improvement
