wednesday night ran fine thurs morning nothing ignition comes on but turn to start and it wont turn over ,the battery is fine there are no earth issues all fuses are ok ,if i check the small wire on the starter with ignition on there is 11.4 volts that stays there even if i turn the key to start, when i turn ignition off it stays for a few seconds the goes to zero volts,if i put live wire to starter with ignition on the car starts any ideas, its not earths or battery or starter.anyone know where the small wire goes too in the fusebox plugs its a 2007 1.4s
11.4V is terrible for a car battery thats a dead battery. It should be above 12.2V.
When you turn the key but not start the car do you get any engine light or battery warning? Sounds like the ecu is stopping you starting the car due to the low voltage..
the actual battery voltage is 12.7volts,there is only 11.4 on the small wire to the starter solenoid the main starter cable has 12.7volts all the rest of the car works perfectly well,no fuses or earth issues that I can find
Definitely electrical then imo. Not that much between the starter and the ignition from what i recall.
Listen carefully on ignition. Can you hear the starter relay click? You should at least hear that even with a duff starter. If you can't hear the click its likely the soleniod circuit.
You can tap the starter soleniod with a hammer, that apparently is often quite sucessful as a temporary fix. ( worn brushes, bad connection etc....)
There is a relay for the starter integrated into the under bonnet fuse box there is an issue with the relay, supply or wire between fuse box and starter
