After purchasing mine.. it appears that the dealer made a bit of a 'oops' on the registration - and it's registered tomorrow so it wouldn't be insured/legal to drive until tomorrow..
So I have a 'curtesy car' which is the dealer's 3008SUV GT
So.. I'm in the unique position to answer questions about GT and Allure tonight
Mine:
Bonnet checked - supposedly not a problem.
Oil on paintwork mark checks - no problem so that seems to be a one of
Hi nick. Would it be possible for you to post a few pics later when it is dark of the interior. Still haven't seen the ambient lighting to its full effect.
Also, is there an icon or something to show TomTom is 'live' if not. Are you going to ask your dealer who registered your tomtom how will you know is all active?
Added a few shots - including the interior of my Allure with the leather/electric seat and LED lights option.
Interesting observations I wasn't expecting on the allure:
a) I have cruise control - although not adaptive it's there.
b) I have Sports mode - although not ordered and I assumed didn't come as standard with the EAT6..
c) It looks like the LED lights also cover the LED fog lights.
d) the leather seats have the extension lip
You can spot some minor differences with the GT.. like the small piano key switch on the left for the moods.
I'll take some additional photos of the interior of the GT later - including night shots.
I went for the standard Mistral leather seats on my Allure. I'm sorry now as I find the seat base a bit short and could have done with that lip (I'm 6ft 2). Can you adjust the angle of the seat base too? My wife is only 5ft so actually likes the shorter seat base!
Dear NickK-UK I'm also considering 1.6 l Allure 3008. I found following photographs and videos posted on a Youtube video indicating poor built quality of the new 3008. Can you please check the below photos and videos and confirm those claims are correct or not. I was initially thinking the build quality is great for new 3008.
Interesting - I've seen you post this exact email previous under a different user name (the user name above has one post at the time of this quote).
The demonstrator GT.. the same buttons for the Allure.. yours looks different - is this an older 3008 - it looks like someone has taken your car apart!
I agree though that the plastic can mark easily with a boot but the same is true for my Ford Focus..
Took a break for coffee and had nose around whilst it's light. The GT is a GT but without traction control.
Some observations (of course my Allure is better ) on the GT:
1. OMG that's not a glove box.
The fuse box takes 1/2, the perfume mechanism takes 1/2 of the remaining.. and I'm not sure if you can get your or a can of coke in the remaining glove box.
The Allure glove box doesn't have the perfume mechanism so you get some usable space!
2. You can connect to WiFi and mobile from the car - picks up my house wifi..
3. Driving the GT.. it's SOOO easy to get above the speed limit as the engine will happily maintain speed with the EAT6 when you go from 70 to 50 for example.
4. Sulks when you don't STOP (i.e. ignition on but not started) the car when you attempt to lock it it will NOT lock. You have to STOP before it will lock..
5. Tailgate with the auto open.. I'm 6'4 and open it's lower than my head. The manual one I think opens more from the quick play with mine before I had to come back. Will update tomorrow.
6. The ambience settings don't seem todo much in daylight although they can be tied into the massage, sports mode etc looking at the setup menu.
Nick. Agree, glovebox is about big enough for a bag of crisps, or a small roll of gaffer tape to keep the mother in law quiet . Tailgate opening height can be adjusted and memorised using the two buttons. Not sure how to do it as there hasn't been a need, but it's in the manual.
The demonstrator GT's electric seat- you can see the effect of wear and tear on the plastic - centre console (my only concern). Also their car needs a clean lol.. obviously getting used overtime..
Look mum - no foot room
If I'm in the back then the only person in the driving seat will be the Mrs.. and that means the driver seat well forward which solves the problem
I sat in the back during the test drive, so not a problem in my circumstances
It's copper franzipan (or whatever they call it!) and has "THE NEW 3008 DEMONSTRATOR" in big writing all over it Will take a pick later of the wheels and inside ambience. I kid you not on the writing (excuse the free publicity!)
The colour scheme was bad enough before they stuck all their rubbish over it. I suppose they had to take what they were given, but if that had been the car I had to base my purchase decision on, I might have thought twice.
Love to know your opinion on the drive. We couldn't drive the GT as it wasn't available. What's your opinion on the power and the quality of the gear changes and refinement. I know you won't have much to compare with but any info would be good!
On the drive for a meal tonight I tried Sports mode too.
Driving
a) The GT has power in a typical torque style rather than a screaming petrol style. More whoosh, lazy and quiet. It's very easy to accelerate beyond the limit with the GT, the torque is effortless with two people in the car.
Foot to the floor and kick down.. it's not instant, nor is the effect on acceleration - it's a of a "grand tourer" than a sports car. Yes it accelerates and you will find you're past the speed limit quickly but it's it's not like a porsche..
b) Sports mode - the wheel is stiffer, the acceleration more aggressive with the stereo being used to increase the sound of the engine - you get the more varroom with the lower sound to the engine too. Having driven on tracks etc - the car isn't a sports car in terms of handling and feedback. The sports is fun but there's probably better cars for getting acceleration whiplash.
c) The paddle gears work nicely, without much of jolt in automatic mode (the auto will take cues from the paddles).
400Nm 180bhp EAT6 gear changes are relaxed, jolt and hassle free. I did have "flapping hand" as a manual driver on one roundabout pull off as my hand was looking for the gear stick for second..
Yes there's less road feedback but this is more relaxing than a relaxing thing on it's boat in the bahamas.
The S&S also kicked in after all on the stop at a roundabout - I think the car's battery probably needed a run to charge it up. No issues pulling off in traffic.
One thing to note is that you see white illuminating the road signs at the side of the road.. it has some blue-white effects which are normal optical effects (colour aberration) you get that with lens based telescopes and even expensive ones right at the edges.
It's not evident how bright they are - more blue cold white.

Does the LED head lamps better than standard Halogen Lights comes with the Allure? I'm thinking to buy a Allure but not sure should I go for LED or not. Any recommendations based on your experience.
I can't say unfortunately - both the GT I've driven twice now and the Allure I've ordered will have LED. My old car is a '06 Ford Focus when xenon was new and it appeared only BMW drivers had them.
I can say from a normal drive vs LED.. they're decent enough to drive at normal speeds at night without street lighting - both at speed on dual carriageways and twisty ye-olde village roads that the car let alone two cars weren't envisaged..
