Default Newbie Expert towing help please

Evening all,

I am considering buying a 2000 Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi 95 Combi 5 Seat 5 door Crew Van.

Mileage is reasonable and so is the price.

My question is this;
What sort of weight could it tow?

Thanks in advance for any help from the collective site brain

It could tow as much as you want certainly pull 2 tons no bother.

Legally though its a bit more complicated as the laws on towing mean that if its trailer takes it over 3500kg which it could quite easily do you would need a tacho if towing for business use.

Then there is the caravan club recommendations of 75% of tow vehicle weight kerb weight of expert is about 1500kg so that would mean around 1200 total but that is ONLY a recommendation not a law.

Towing rules are incredibly hard to understand due to so many different opinions and very little actual law.

Thanks for the swift reply.

Potentially it is good news.
I intend to use the the vehicle as a weekend semi camper and a daily run around.

Including the trailer, all up towed weight should be no more than 1100kg
Trailer weights 300kg
Car going on the trailer weights 540kg
Add spare tires and caggage and it will soon reach 1100kg.

It has had a recent cambelt change and has 114000 miles on it.

I believe these vans are 95 HP, is that correct?

Thanks

90 0r 110 normally if its 2 litre

What you intend to tow should be fine but if you got your licence after 1997 the rules are a bit vauge although as i see it you would still be ok where others would say your not.

The government made it unnecessarily complex to understand even they dont understand it
