Default New key doesn't start engine

I just replaced the ignition on my 2005 Expert HDi. I then got a new key cut, using the chip from my old spare.

However, the van appears to be immobilised still. Everything works fine, but turning the key only seems to fire up the starter motor.

Is there any way I can test to see if the ring is reading the chip properly? Failing that, is there a way to bypass the immobiliser completely?

Any help much appreciated.

What do you mean by "replaced the ignition"?

Make sure you have swapped over the small immobiliser chip from the old key case, it's not part of the main board and is easily missed.

2005 is old style expert have you refitted the decoder ring properly on the barrel?

Did the original spare key start the van on the original barrel ?

I fixed the issue shortly after posting. You're correct - the decoder was slightly off.

We're back in action!

Thanks, all.
