98 Boxer very poor performance when cold
I have a motorhome on '98 Boxer. Engine is a 2.5TD DJ5T.
I have noticed, for a while now, that the performance is very poor for several miles after startup, then the performance becomes suddenly better, not progressively better. When performing poorly it is smooth, no misfire...just flat.
Once it is performing well, it stays good for the journey.
Problem will repeat the next tme it is started up from cold.
When the performace is poor it is just as though the turbo is not working. I am inclined to think that it is actualy the turbo that is sticking when cold and then frees up when warm. Is this likely or possible ? Can I check this ?
I am also interested to know what the coldstart device connected to the injection pump actually does and whether it could give me this sort of problem.
Any feedback appreciated.
