1.9 is xud engine fitted in lots of cars 205 305 405 406 etc etc problem is there are 3 or 4 versions and most later ones are turbocharged it depends what you are actually trying to do.

early 306 turbo or 406 turbo would probably be best but you will have plumbing to do for intercooler depends if you want to climb hills fast or slow

does anybody have a suitable donor vehicle or engine as above
can buy whole car if necessary (and cheap enough )

is this the best section to request an engine ?

Can you explain in a bit more detail what you have and what you want i know it sounds simple but sometimes people dont really ask what they actually mean to ask

as i say most are turbo in later models do you want a faster engine or original what is wrong with yours you may not need an engine your not giving much away

my engine despite new glowplugs and injectors smokes like mad on startup and till it has been run for about ten minutes -loads of smoke, light colour, grey, white
compression is down on 2 and 3 ,
maybe rings, valves ,
done a sniff test and supposedly not head gasket
just want a running engine to drop in

Ok so you need a non turbo engine you are going to struggle to find the correct one to drop straight in you cant just take the turbo off a turbo engine you really need your engine code

You also need to be careful as there is also a later model people call a 1.9 but its really not the same engine it is called a dw8 or WJY engine code and wont fit your gearbox as angles were changed

I`ve just SORNed a 1995 306XLD that I`ve been driving for the last 14 years.
Still starts instantly, runs as sweet as a nut,no smoke, doesn't use oil, typical old XUD. Will that engine do the job??

My 306 is a VF37AD9B230813067 and is stored the other side of town.
The V5 has engine number.......CU6M4153430 is that it? or do I have to look for that little metal tag down by the oil filter?
