Default 206 mystery problem!

Hi guys

i am new to the forums, i have a 206 1.4 HDI 52 plate, and has been good to me for 8 months until it stopped working! The whole problem started when I decided to change my key fob as i was tired of having to unlock it with the key everytime and it hasnt started since! I never would have thought it would be the key as the metal key bit itself was the same and all the parts from the old fob were in the new and it worked! but the car has not started since! I have taken it to two different garages now and they cannot seem to find the problem with the car. A friend mentioned that he had a similar issue with his 206 and said it only took a garage an hour to fix! It cant be the key right?

Thanks in advance x

You will probably find you need to move the transponder chip from your old fob to your new one, looks similar to this..
