Default peugeot 807 combination control unit problems with comms 2000

Looking for tips advicr and ideas. This is our first post on this website and hope someonehas ideas. We own a Peugeot 807 and have a few issurs with it. The main one at the moment is causing a bit of a panic. The night before we were due to go on our family holiday my husband was loading the car wjen it suddenly came up with engine immobiliser fault on the screen. The car wouldn't start and the key wouldnt work. The aa came out and said it was the key that needed a replacement battery. So we spent ages on a sunday night sourcing a battery. By then the car said economy mode active and the key still wouldnt work. The next morning called aa again who said it was the key that needed recoding and towed it to the garage. Bang went our holiday. The garage have had it since monday. Yesterday I got a call saying that the combination control unit had crashed and needed replacing wh8ch was going to be expensive.

Has anyone had a similar problem? What did it take to fix it? They have already tried to recode key, reboot the bsi, reprogram the ecu as they thought that was the problem they have used all the correct peugeot diagnistic software. We need the car due to size of family and trading for a different one is not an option.

Any ideas thoughts and suggestions grateful.

Im not sure that they are correct the com unit can cause problems but if they are using planet they should be able to pinpoint the problem

If they can program the keys then the com unit IS reading them !!

Economy mode is not a problem as this will vanish once the car actually starts its just doing this to conserve the battery

Thank you for replying. They had a peugeot technician from the local dealers come yo do the diagnostic tests. Apparently the key is not the problem and didn't need coding but the comms had crashed and needs to be replaced. What do you suggest?

If rebooting the system doesn't work (thats disconnecting the battery, waiting and re-connecting through the drivers window following a set procedure described elsewhere) I don't think you have any choice but to replace the Comms. Sorry it won't be cheap, we had little change out of 500 when the headlamps would not switch off on ours.

Donee a little bit more research, the way to confirm whether the key is at fault is to turn on the ignition then turn it off leaving the key in. If there is a musical warning the Comms has recognised the key. The only other thing worth trying is to disconnect the battery and inspect the wiring harness plugs into the BSI and between the BSI and Comms, carefully unplug them and reconnect to rule out a loose connection.

your best bet it get it on pp2000 and look at live stream data to see if the ecu is locked or unlocked if its locked when key is in ignition and turned on then have a look in bsi and see if that can see the key if not its either wiring comms unit receiver round ignition barrel or key if bsi is seeing key but ecu is waiting for reply from bsi do a glabal test and if there is multiple errors about no communication with ecu's then sounds like bsi
