Looking for some help whilst investigating a fuel pressure sensor problem I disconnected the engine ecu whilst the ignition was on and now the vehicle is immobilised. i can still communicate with the engine ecu and the bsi. What i want to know is is this recoverable and how?

If you disconnect the ecu with ignition on it stays unlocked so that's not the problem I have swapped ecus using this method for testing for faults and never had an issue

More likely you have damaged the wiring or broken an earth

What does the BSI say regarding keys etc

Can't remember exact text or code but it says something like bsi cannot communicate with engine ecu. also engine light and glow light do not show.
Will try and get exact codes tommorow.

You don't need codes you need live data readings sounds like a power fault check all the fuses near the battery including the 2 big main ones in separate cover.

The fault code in BSI is 82 Permanent fault. Communication fault with engine management ecu.
Data in BSI is: Engine ECU locked.............Yes
Transponder label recognised......Yes
Number of keys............2
BSI matched to ECU........Yes
BSI in antiscanning.........No
BSI Blank................No
data in engine ecu:
Control unit condition........ECU locked
Status ofthe coded engine immobiliser programming.....Matched ECU
Problems detected when transmitting the unlock code..............Awaiting response from BSI.

I have checked the fuses by the battery and they are all ok. Could really do with a pin out diagram of the engine ecu so I can check all lives and earths.
Thanks for help so far

Did you disconnect the ecu while engine was actually running or just ignition on ?

No it simply looks like a communication issue or a power feed/earth is not connected meaning the ecu is asleep

What age of vehicle is it and what engine code if it is an 807 disconnect the battery and leave of for 10 mins then reconnect but DO NOT use anything electrical and do not try to start for 3 mins.

No that didn't work. I guess I'll just have to try and find all the lives and earths and check at the weekend. Thanks again
