Angry DPF errors but I can't see a DPF on my exhaust

HI All

I am getting a DPF/EGR error flash up with a triangle in circle, black smoke pours out the back and I lose power.
I have been looking to see if I can clean my DPF, but it doesn't seem to have one - the whole exhaust from flexi pipe at the front to the back has nothing that is not sealed. If I am getting an error, where is the DPF? I had a faulty EGR but that was replaced and I assume because it was faulty it filled the filter up. Can anyone offer an answer.

http://www.vito03.com/media/exhausts/629a6d1a.jpg is the exhaust I have. The car is an 807 HDi on a 56 plate

Any help gratefully received .

You'll get more help from Reliable but I think your car doesn't have a dpf fitted, they were fitted to the 2.2's but it was because PSA wanted to test their new dpf Eolys fluid system, not a legislative requirement.
So think more likley to be an EGR fault, is it electric or pneumatic? Try cleaning out the EGR pipework especially at its mouth where it joins the intake manifold.

Hi wynb, thank you for the information, the EGR is pneumatic and new, I had a Saturday of black smoke, temp gauge getting hot and lack of power, then a rather larger cloud of white smoke and it started running ok again. On your comment about Eolys, does that mean I have the fluid or I don't, if I don't have a DPF? I used some EGR cleaner and the engine seems to be running quieter now, so maybe it is carbon in the manifold causing the problems. The EGR is down the back of the engine so it is difficult for me to take to bits. I have run about 30 miles today with no problems, although the engine warning light is on and I still get the depollution system warning.

Many thanks
Eric

There is no ACTUAL dpf light or warning you are seeing something you are thinking is DPF related 4 possible engines in a 2006 registered car and all are different control systems

How do I find out which of the 4 and what mine has? Is there a database somewhere?

Thanks

Eric

Hi, Thank you , that is cool information, Engine information is :

Fuel supply-Engine
Parameter Value
ENGINE DW10UTED4 TURBO DIESEL
DIESEL FILTER WATER DETECTOR WITHOUT DIESEL FILTER WATER DETECTOR
FUEL DIESEL GRADE DA/DE/DE+
EMISSIONS STANDARD (ENGINE) EURO 4 ENGINE EMISSION CONTROL
EXHAUST TRANSVERSE REAR SILENCER
ENGINE (TYPE) EW/DW
OIL COOLER MNTG WATER/OIL EXCHANGER ON ENGINE
VEHICLE EMISSIONS STANDARD (TYPE APPROVAL) L5 DEPOLLUTION (HOMOLOGATION)
COOLING MOTOR RADIATOR TH : 32 - 21 DM2 BRAZED ALUMINIUM
CRANKCASE GAS CIRCUIT HEATING W/O HEATER CASING GAS CIRCUIT
VEHICLE TECHNICAL DEPOLLUTION L5 VEHICLE TECHNICAL DEPOLLUTION
PARTICLE FILTER WITHOUT PARTICLE FILTER
FAN 2 300W + 460W 3-SPEED FANS
FUEL VAPOUR RETRIEVAL WITHOUT PETROL VAPOUR RECUPERATION
INJECTION ASSOCIATED VARIANT SIEMENS ASSEMBLY
TANK FILTER RESERVOIR FILTER INTERIOR
THROTTLE HOUSING (ENGINE INLET AIR CIRCUIT) WITHOUT THROTTLE HOUSING (INTAKE AIR ENGINE)

Interesting because I thought my car was EURO3 and also it says DPF without a filter, so that answers that bit.

Just check my odb whatsit reader and it now says P1351 (manu control), P3007 (manu control), and P2143 - EGR Vent control Circuit Open - I shall google that as that is new :-) -- I googled it and found this https://www.obd-codes.com/p2143
I think it is in Diesel language though :-)

Thanks for all your input thus far, interesting and much appreciated.

Regards
Eric

From that i conclude its an RHK engine with electronic EGR so this is most likely the culprit its not working properly and the warning you are getting is a pollution related warning due to the EGR not being able to work properly as i said there is no direct DPF warning.

p1351 is seen on most peugeots probably nothing some will waste time doing glowplugs and replacing relays and its still there afterwards !

Hi, if a new pneumatic EGR has been fitted, maybe it was susbstituted for the old (defective?) electronic EGR. Are there loose wires in the engine bay to confirm? See
Of course removal, cleaning & refitting will take just minutes or more likely all day based on my experience with our old 807
