Default 807 Manual Gear selection

I have a 2005 807 2.2 HDI Executive. I have for some time experienced difficulty in engaging reverse gear? I now cannot engage reverse gear at all!! Any suggestions if it is something relatively minor then I will repair.

Have a look at this https://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/...-fixed-204570/
If you are handy see if you can wrap the ball joints with a piece of folded metal fixed using tie wraps.
The cable operating the reverse gate is still working? This is the collar you lift to get across the gate into reverse, if it feels like it is connected then it should be OK.

Thank you for your advice. I think the problem is with the white plastic ball at the base of the gear selection lever which has split. I think I can get a replacement unit for 99 which I am inclined to take a punt on and see if it resolves the issue. Other connections/cables etc appear to be OK?

Yes & no, the split to the ball won't be helping but is it contributing to the lost motion resulting in the gear lever being unable to travel far enough across to the left to enable you to get reverse? Does leaving the gearlever shroud off help?
The main isue is wear to the steel balls from the gearbox shift mechanism onto the control plate, hence the advice to shim them up by adding say a length of tube onto them.
