Default 807 keys

Hi, I'm new here having bought a 2007 807 se 2.0 hdi 120 last month, my first computer era Peugeot. I only have one key, an oblong 4 button version and am trying to figure out if a 2nd hand one can be reprogrammed to work and would one of the oval version be compatible? Looking on ebay there seem to be a variety of diagnostic kits available at a broad range of prices, can anyone advise me as to what works or what to avoid please?
Thanks in advance for any help
Pat

Don't take this as Gospel but I don't think s/h keys can be re-programmed to start the engine as the immobiliser chip inside it is one use only. Probably best to take your key to a locksmith so a copy can be made by cloning its immo chip and getting the blade cut.
Think you could try getting the remote central locking to work by buying a s/h key and following the re-synching procedure in the handbook so you'll end up with 2 keys.
Hope someone confirms this!

Thanks, I guested that the imobiliser chip would need changing but being lazy it's the remote controls I want! I've seen the oval remotes on ebay but not the oblong so thought I'd ask if anyone knows.
Cheers Pat

Not sure about the 807, but some models (e.g. 206) cannot make use of 2nd hand keyfobs. To program a fob to the car it has to be "virgin", i.e. not previously programmed to a different car.

The exception is if the BSI and engine ECU from the donor car are fitted as well.

Thanks, I had Sedonas before and the ecu had to be programmed to recognise the remote. I suppose it depends if Peugeot have been sneaky and its a 2 way process, ecu to recognise remote and remote to recognise the ecu.
Cheers Pat

I am a vehicle locksmith, i can assure you the id46 psa remote is program once only unless you are using an aftermarket remote but even then it needs specialist equipment to be able to reuse the key

an id46 key needs the car present to either program or clone the key but if the car was present yes i could do a key even without remotes
