Default 807 Gearbox Solenoid replacement

Hi 807 fans

Have been dealing with a few issues on our 06 807, with some great help and diagnosis from @windy1603

Previous issues have been dealt with and now it's just (hopefully) a reoccurring gearbox fault which seems to be due to 2 solenoids which need changing on the valve box.

Windy1603 has kindly sent me details regarding the replacement procedure.

My mechanic is prepared to tackle it (he's also a mate) but has said he's no gearbox specialist.

I'm here asking if anyone in my area might be available/prepared to do this job and may have more experience with it. I'd like to avoid reception prices and find an independent mechanic with the right skills, if I can.

I'm in Potters Bar.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated as to how long and how much this might cost as there's only so much I want to continue to put into this car.

Many thanks,
D.

Thanks for that. Have you used them?

We haven't had this done yet and the problem is now more frequent and seem to be struggling to find a gear (as reported by the missus).
Happened 3 times on the way to Finchley yesterday and I'm wondering if this means it's gone beyond the solenoid issue. We had major work done on the gearbox a few years back and would have thought this meant more life in that component.
Looks like I'll have to take it somewhere to get the new issues evaluated. Might be the end of the road for her 😞

No, just got a quote from them for an exchange DPO trans for a flood damaged Scenic I bought from Copart in 2003, they were based in Palmers Green back then. In the end I got it working OK by changing the fluid 7 times which got rid of all the water.
With the water in my trans used to refuse to select a gear when I stopped at the lights, but worked fine for the first 6 miles until it warmed up. Is this your problem? If so might be worth having a look at the fluid to see if it changed to a strawberry milkshake rather than a clear red, the heat exchanger could be leaking.
Why not go back to the folk who did the previuos major repair for an asssessment?

Yeah. Perhaps you're right. Should give them a try first, see what they say. Thanks for the reply.
