Default 807 2.2 HDI Excutive Cambelt snapped

Hi All,
Trying to gather as much info as possible so I don't get fleeced, on the cambelt that snapped on my 807 2.2 HDI Executive on a 04 plate, questions im trying to get answered are as follows.....

Does it kill the engine ?
What is the usual cost of repair? Avg?
where is the best place to take it that aint going to charge me an arm and a leg?
Does the engine need to come out to fit the belt?
will the head need skimming etc?
would an engine swap be cheaper?
and where would I get a reliable engine from?

further detail...I was only going at about 10mph and it just shut off and I coasted it into the road side so nothing dramatic.... no noise, smoke oil etc.

PLEASE HELP !!
Any Info will help...........

Many Thanks guys

Dave H

Check out the C8 centre in Edinburgh for fixed price cambelt repairs on the 2.2. Cylinder head does not need to be removed but the cam cover does to replace the bent/broken rockers, (valve damage is rare) this means the injectors have to be removed and a specialist is often needed to remove them unless your garage is lucky. Sometimes a new belt can be fitted and the engine started and the injectors freed by loosening the clamp bolts and letting combustion pressure push them out. You need a garage that has done this work before otherwise they may carry out unnecessary work.
