Default 806 hdi starter motor

Hello all ,
my starter motors gone (display lights up , i turn the key and 'click' )and I just wondered if anyone has any ideas of how I could get it going again , iv rocked it in gear ,Iv pushed down the road and back-obviously not in gear.
im toying with idea of trying to push starting it but don't know it it'll work and for how long.

most annoyingly iv just paid 450 for the timing belt/water pump to be done and a years m.o.t !!

Any advice is much appreciated as im real close to just scrapping it.

Car will bump start in 2nd or 3rd. Are you sure it is the starter? A flat battery is more likely or a poor connection. Check the battery terminals, check the earth terminal and the earth strap between gearbox and chassis leg as well as the connection to the starter. Replacing the starter not difficult, about 80.00 exchange.
