Default Low battery warning light

Hi. I've bought an 607,its an 2.2 HDI (2002 reg) it has 2 errors coming on the screen-one was about the srs-esp system fault and second one was about BATTERY Low. I know that the car has 2 batteries.*** the front one is fine and I've just had a new battery fitter in the boot and the low battery lights are on! anyone got any ideas

Maybe the battery monitor unit has a bad earth contact?

I've noticed that the date and radio need to be reset so I'm assuming the battery has been disconnected at some point before I bought the car
Would resetting the bsi sort out the low battery light??

It might, if the fitting of the new battery was not done according to the correct procedure.

Tried the reset process a few times with no joy,
after unplugging and plugging the 2 battery there's no power to switch on the running lights before turning the key etc....
I've checked the maxi fuses n they r fine
Any other idea's
I'm assuming the alternator is OK as there's no problem with the main battery
Any help appreciated..... Trying my best to avoid a garage ty

Latest update bought a battery alternator tester both batteries are 12.5 the engine battery when running is 14.2 so the alternator is working, but the 2nd battery (new) is 12.5 and when running remains at 12.5!
Am I looking at a wiring problem now??
