Default RXH, starting problem

My car is low mileage, 42000 62 plate. When I bought it a few months ago it nay had 34000 miles. After a few weeks use, it started failing to start on the first push on the button, but only first time I started it that day. The rest of the day it started as normal. As the days went by, it required more and more presses of the start button. It was put down to a potential faulty battery. It was the original and with less than 5000 a years, it sounded plausible.
The warranty didnít cover batteries so I bought a new one. For 3-4 weeks it was spot on, then the problem returned.

Thatís the back story. Coming up to date, itís in a dealership now and the diagnosis shows a faulty control unit and the alternator belt needs replacing. They quoted £160 for a belt! What on earth is it made of to warrant that cost (that doesnít include labour). Iím guessing itís something special but does anyone know?

If they are replacing the v belt tensioner as well plus labour probably about right.
As you know the rxh engine bay is pretty compact so not a job you could do yourself on your driveway. Take it on the chin..

That price was for the belt only. I was told that the tensioner may or may not need replacing and would be told the price of that if it was needed.
It just seemed expensive for a simple belt

1 hour labour (main dealer) plus price of belt (main dealer) = £160
