Default peugeot 407 2.2 diesel sport

Can anybody assist? Engine management light comes on when car is accelerated
fast. it then puts car in limp mode and lack of power. plugged in to diagnostic machine and it comes up with code reading P0087. Stating that its the Fuel Rail/ system pressure too low. could this be pointing towards fuel pump?anybody else had similar problems and i so how was this resolved.

Filters done? could be air leak.

Cheers, uncle is a mechanic and has suggested it may need filters changing. will start with that and see what i get from it
