Default P1351, P1598 & P1198 Faults & Smoking On Acceleration

Hi all,

I'm hoping that somebody may be able to shed some light on the situation with my car if you can.

The symptoms we have are smoking under hard acceleration (lots of black smoke). Limp mode cuts in when driving with continued hard acceleration, but doesn't under normal driving conditions.

I used a MaxiDiag (all I have) to read the codes and it returned P1351, P1198 & P1598.

Leaving the vehicle overnight clears the codes and limp mode when it activates.

If we pootle around at average speeds there isn't an issue, but, if we take it for a MOT it will fail on the emissions test.

What should I be looking at to resolve this please?
