Default Overheating warning without overheating..?

Hi there..

i have a 2007 2.0 hdi (107000)

the last week or so, the cooling fan has been started to stay on when i come to a halt, this hasnt been noticable before..

this morning whilst driving, a red STOP warning come on saying that the engine temp was too warm but the engine temp was showing ok on the gauge..

this warning went off after a few seconds and didnt appear again...

just wondered if anyone had any ideas what might be occuring here, hopefully a small relay or thermostat fault (not too expensive with chrimbo round the corner)

many thanks in advance...

apologies in advance.

new to the forum.

located north manchester area.

i have a 407 2.0 hdi 136 with 107 000 on the clock and have a few intermittent faults on it.

thought it would be a good idea to ask fellow owners if anyone has had the same/similar issues.

hope someone can help out or point me in the right direction...

thanks again..

Sound like the temp sensor, cheap fix. I had similar symptoms on another car.. I dont know where it is located though...
Good luck!
