Default Miles to service indicator.

Wondering if anyone has any idea, have searched forums but haven't had any luck. If I reset the service indicator to 20,000 all seems good for a week or two, the mileage goes down a relative amount to the miles driven then all of a sudden it will drop by 5,000 or more until it shows the spanner and a negative amount, which then seems to keep pace with the miles driven.
In the past I put it down to having an abs fault showing, but since the last mot in September I have no abs probs but it still keeps happening.
Not exactly a. 3rd world problem I know but abit annoying as the rest of the car is all good for 1st time in 4 years, any advice appreciated.

I think it's based on how you drive as well pottering around or motorway miles. I travelled 15 mile once and it dropped 50. Motorway miles they don't drop as quick from what I've noticed on mine.
Easy enough to reset yourself anyway.
