Default Injector cleaner instead of Eloys?

Hi,
The DPF fluid low warning has come up on the 407 and I was talking to a mechanic and he said it's possible to use standard injector cleaner instead of the eloys fluid.
Has anyone ever tried this or is he waffling?

He's waffling, use the proper fluid. It injects such a small amount of it that injector cleaner won't do anything.

It won't be when the DPF is clogged and you're having to deal with that.
When you consider how long it lasts for then the Eloys fluid is actually quite cheap.
