Default Cutting out

Well after 34000 miles of fairly trouble free motoring in fifteen months my 407 is developing a little issue. Twice now when accelarating out of a bend its cut out completely and ive had to pull over, without power steering, turn the ignition off then back on and all is fine again. Ive also lost the turbo a couple of times too where it wont rev over 3000rpm but the on off procedure cures that as well. Ive been good with oil & filter changes doing them every 8-10k but havent done the fuel filter as yet and i havent touched the egr since purchase but dont know whether either of these coulod effect it like it is?

Any ideas folks?

It sounds like it is going into limp mode, switching off and on clears this untill the next time it is activated, get a diagnostics as there are plenty of reasons for limp mode.

I'm not saying this is your problem but my egr didn't put the mil light on and I only found it was faulty by hooking up planet.

34,000 miles on the same fuel filter? I'd be looking at that first.

Like Gibbo said, Fuel filter looks like a candidate, especially if it's under acceleration.

EGR also potential, when mine completely failed it would barely idle, cut out when you tried to pull away at anything more than grandad pace, and smelt like shit.

If your lucky enough you can loosen the two bolts holding the valve to the head, loosen the two bolts holding the EGR cooler to the head and that should give it enough movement to use a torx drive to undo the 3 screws holding the solenoid to the valve. From that point it is easy to clean the valve with a can of compressed air and a rag. The solenoid being free, you can do with that what you like but I don't recommend fluids to clean it.

Also you can obviously rotate the solenoid to see what movement is like, do not do this too much as you can quite easily go too far, and it is then toast.
