Default Coupe JBL and non JBL sound system comparison?

After my 407sw got wrote off 2 weeks ago I've been on the look out for either a 407 Coupe or another sw, whichever comes up first.

I've found what is IMO the perfect fully loaded Coupe, but the only thing it doesn't have is the JBL sound system.

My 407sw had the JBL system and TBH i was impressed with it.

Has anyone listened to the JBL system compared to a non JBL system in a Coupe?

Can the JBL system be retro fitted easily enough or is it a pita or is it simply not worth it?

Any info or advice would be a massive help, I really want this car but this is my only hang up - its not local to me hence i'm posting for experience.

Cheers guys

I had the non JBL system in a 406 coupe, and now have a 407 coupe with the full JBL system on board. The difference is amazing, a car with the JBL sound system was a prerequisite when I purchased the 407.

The 407 is a quite car and if you like music I think its worth waiting for one with the JBL system fitted.

hi, i have the jbl and its very good. not tried the standard one but i believe you can fit the autochanger and sub in the boot hatch. but all the speakers are different as far as im aware. jbl on the speaker grills is a give away, plus i believe there were fewer speakers on the standard system. i think the coupe gt spec has jbl as standard and some later cars as a option.

My 407sw sounded really good I must admit, but I never heard a sw fitted without the JBL system to compare.

I've now seen 2 Coupes, one has the JBL system the other one doesnt - both are about a 2 hour drive away each but for the round trip to view both you'd be looking at quite a trek and I can't justify that.

Whats throwing a spanner for me is the colour combo of both cars. The one I like most out of the 2 doesn't have the JBL system - sod's law!

Thanks for your replies guys

I got rid of an A6 with Bose surround sound for my Coupe with JBL and have to say it is up there with the A6 - sound is perfect IMO

I had cars with Bose systems, Harman Kardon and Mark Levison.
I must admit I do love the JBL system on the 407 coupe, the best aspect of it, is that it can perform loud and clear on any level.
I do think it is the best sound system I have come across.

By the way I did think that all the GT models had the JBL system on, I assume you must have come across to an SE model you like?

The one that never had the JBL system was described as a Sport model? I've seen a couple of SE models as you describe but both never even had sat nav so for me one to avoid.

The one I liked with the JBL system has now sold anyway so its back to the drawing board for me!

Thanks for your reply

Mine is an SE, but as I was told by my local dealer because my number place is KX starting, and the car is one of the early ones, it was a dealer demo car most likely. It was loaded with all the extras (so I do have an SE with all the GT kit on it). But at least being an early car, it has the lower tax bracket.
Things worth keeping in mind.

The road tax rating is a funny thing with the 2.7hdi engine, mine is an early 2009 model and it is in the lower tax bracket?

Indeed... if you have options from the factory they will change the CO2 number, 18" or 19" wheels will make difference etc etc.

However if you buy a car with 17" ... and then you change them your self to 19" ... that will not change the Tax lol

I read somewhere ... that they were thinking to make those changes (like wheel size modifications) an MOT failure because it would amend the emissions output.
