Default "Assistance call, Service Downgraded" message

Hi guys
I have never owned a car with so many warning messages and fault lights coming on, even though the car drives perfectly, i seem to be getting new warnings every week.

The latest one on the way to work this morning is "Assistance call, Service downgraded"

What on earth is that supposed to mean?

previous messages were and still intermittently flash up are:

ESP/ABS faulty
Engine fault, repair needed
Speed control faulty

When the speed control fault message comes on, the cruise control no longer works.

I had a ABS wheel sensor replaced last week, as the ABS light was constantly on, but now it comes on very, intermittently.

the Engine fault states a sticking EGR valve according to the Peugeot Planet software

But the garage told me they could not repair it and advised to blank it off, then afterwards they said they could not blank it and decided to clean it with something, this cost me money for nothing as the fault is still there.

It seems the 407 is a load of rubbish compared to the other cars I've owned.

Any advice regarding my latest assistance call message?

The brake switch was faulty when I got the Speed control faulty message on my 307.
Cost around 7 from ECP and a simple fix.

As Gibbo would say.........

I'd get a Planet diagnostic to check the system:

How to: Contact a member for Peugeot Planet Diagnostic

But check the latest map as the original one is rather old and some members have now moved on.

If you're getting random errors and Planet isn't coming up with anything conclusive then it could be your battery at fault.

At this time of year there's an increased load on the battery. You won't notice or hear anything untoward, but a slight voltage drop will play havoc with the car's electrics.

If the battery is more than a few years old or you've no history then it might be idea to get a new one.

EGR cleaning is very hit and miss. Replacement or blank is the only real fix.

As above it's to do with your phone on your rt unit.

My 407 1.6hdi has just come back from having a body repair carried out to the driver side rear wheel arch, and Just Car clinic in Doncaster needed to remove the battery to carry out welding (as normal), but when the car was returned to me I had "ENGINE FAULT REPAIR NEEDED" message.
I called the RAC and the technician checked the faults with his computer to find around 5 separate faults, these were then wiped and I was asked to drive around and return the vehicle to him after a couple of minutes.
No faults came back and I have driven the car for 10 days since with NO fault messages.
The problem is caused when disconnection and reconnection of the battery takes place.
The ECU does not like it when this happens and it may be necessary to reset the ECU.

Could also be back up battery on the rt head unit that's failed.
