Default air in fuel lines?

Hi should there be air flowing through the fuel line as well as diesel on my 2.0hdi when its running thanks

if your on about the fuel line beside the fuel filter yea thats normal

I had this problem but it got so bad that I started getting faults and dropping in to limp home mode
PP indicated 0 bar at the rail.
I swapped out the fuel filter and have not had a problem since.
