Default 407 trip computer problem

Ok so just got my first 407 (love it!) it has the standard RD4 head unit with just the basic display. My problem: I can get the trip computer to display all the time on the MFD, but when I press the end of the wiper stalk so it displays these reading on the display in between the dials it only stays on for about 15 seconds. Can this be made to display all the time. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hi, hope your enjoying your car.

They all do this, you get used to looking across if you want to know your mpg. I think it doesnt display all the time on the speedo mfd coz thats used for all the messages etc that pop and warning etc etc and to stop you watchin your mpg and not lookin out the window lol

Yeah - that's the one thing about the instrument panel in the 407 that annoys me. It's a bit of a waste IMO.
