Default 407 SW diesel 2.0 HDI erratic sometimes

Hi Guys,

Peugeot

Hope there is an expert out there that can please give some help.

We have a 407 SW diesel 2.0 HDI (year 2005) and until recently it was running fine for many weeks at a time but with the odd occurrence were it would all of a sudden start to act as if it were running out of fuel. It would usually clear itself if we stopped and switched of the ignition and not happen for some time. However the issue has started to be more frequent. It has just happened about ten times on a 30 mile trip. When we stopped it seemed to clear for a little while but within a mile or so the problem would come back.

Any help or idea would be appreciated. It is a tricky one as until the last week or so you we could drive miles on multiple trips with no issues at all.

Many thanks in advance for any idea

All the best

Could be a number of things, any warning lights on the dash?

Best thing would be a diagnostic from one of the forum members that have the same equipment as the dealers. In the search box type peugeot planet map to see if there is anyone near you.

Where you located?

Good morning,

Many thanks for your help here. The Engine diagnostic warning light comes on.

In the handbook it states:
This indicates that the engine emission control system is not fully effective. If it flashes this indicates and emission control system fault. There is a risk of damage to the catalytic converter. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.

We are based on the Isle of Wight there is a Peugeot dealer here and we took the car to them and explained the situation but the chap said there was nothing he could do as there fine the time we took it in. That is as the fault comes and goes.

Many thanks

If the engine light is on there should be stored codes which would help locate issue, as CAB said above could be any number issues from blocked fuel filter, fuel pump failing, sensors etc.

Default Peugeot 407 SW fault many thanks

Hi Windy1603,

Many thanks for your help here. Your thoughts are of interest and it looks like we will have to go back to the Peugeot garage and see what they come up with.

Nice bike by the way on your username.

All the best

Suzy
