Default 407 sw 2008 (136) poor running?????

Hi all. Problem with my car that I hope you can help with. (Ive owned it around 7 months and done 6k miles)
Its a 2008 (136) SW with around 110,000 miles showing. The only way of describing it is gutless and lumpy. The car kicks out a bit of white smoke on start up (only when cold) and was told by a "so called HDI expert" that one of the injectors was leaking. I replaced all four injectors (that was tested) but the problem is still there (the replacements are 4mpg worse than what I took out). I have no warning lights on the dash and it showed up nothing on "Planet" which the garage used. I use the car for mixed driving and the services are up to date. I did find a hard thick white residue at the bottom of the fuel filter housing when I changed the filter but no difference when it was removed. I'm getting around 45mpg (now) but daren't use 6th gear as I'm nearly flooring it just to keep it at normal speed but the mpg suffers. I used to own a Z19DTH (150) and find I need to be in a lower gearer to that car for normal hills (if that makes sense).
I'm thinking of getting it terracleaned but don't want to be spending 100+ if its not going to solve it. Could it be a DPF problem although no warning lights (do you always get them with a fault of the DPF). I'm sorry for the long essay. Thanks in advance.
