Default 407 GT 2.0 HDi Auto Limp Mode - no power -help

HI,

Just bought a 407 HDi 2.0 GT Auto that was my Stepdad's everyday car before he passed away in January.

He loved the car, owned it for 5 years , from 81000 - 110000 miles.
Had it serviced at a local garage as per schedule and was valeted once a month.

It has been sat for 4 months while the estate was sorted out and the private plate was taken off. Apart from a couple of short trips to the garage for the MOT and the brake discs and pads being replaced it hasn't turned a wheel.

He never had any trouble with it apart from, all 4 tyre sensor warnings being on from when he bought it. The engine management light is on (yellow) and has been for some time although how long I'm not sure, as with the Depollution fault displayed on centre console screen.

When I first drove the car on Sunday (6/05/18) to Alton Towers and back, with a full payload, a journey of about 150 miles it didn't miss a beat.

I then drove it home to Bishop's Stortford from Doncaster, on my own with light luggage, and about 120 miles in to the journey I experienced a sudden loss of power.

I was driving on Cruise Control at about 74mph, moved out for an overtake, just after switching the air con on to full power, and put my foot on the gas pedal only to find the car slow down suddenly.

The engine did not cut out, and I managed to nurse it along at 50mph until I was able to pull over safely just off the A1.

I put the car in neutral, after stopping, and tried to redline it to 'clear its throat' and it wouldn't rev above 2500rpm.

I managed to get it home but could only get it above 25mph by driving in manual mode.

The readouts on the screens are exactly the same as before. Nothing appears to have changed apart from the loss of power.

Is there anyone who knows someone close to Bishop's Stortford I can take it to that can do Peugeot Planet diagnostics, or help me out with this. I've never owned a diesel before, and certainly not a car this sophisticated.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Mark

That sounds like limp home mode.

I'd expect it to be accompanied by a BEEP, engine anti pollution system defective and the EML light.

Link in my signature to the PP2k map.

There's a chance that it will go away after a few restarts it it was "intermittent". Even so, the fault will be logged in the ECU so it's best to find out what the car thinks the problem is.

It is accompanied by a sharp 'Beep', engine antipollution system faulty and the EML light.
It does seem to be intermittent, as today the engine revs freely. I haven't driven it but my partner says it seems fine...although she's not mechanically minded.

With the engine management light on and the 'antipollution fault' message and 'limp' mode obviously active, it is likely there is something wrong with the DPF system. Probably clogged up due to a failure to regenerate or low fluid level or both etc..

Have a look on the PP2000 map and see if there is anyone near you with a PP2000 kit that can do a scan for you, both to extract current error codes and do live readings to check the state of the DPF filter and system. http://https://www.peugeotforums.com/...anet-map-7734/

"engine antipollution system defective" and its variations is a generic error message and could mean quite literally anything. It's not necessarily the DPF.

You need to get it plugged in to Peugeot Planet (the dealer diagnostic system) to find out what the car thinks the problem is.

Many members on this forum have Peugeot Planet and can do this for you. Link to map of members in my signature below. (I don't charge anything for doing it.)
