Exclamation 407 Electronics dead

I had just started my car and pulled off and about two seconds later the car just dies. Engine shutoff, all the electrics were shut off and the gauge cluster was frozen with the needles still pointing to where they were. After I move the battle terminals around the car starts then does the same thing after I pull off. The car was completely dead as the AA man was looking at it. When my friend came with my spare key and came close to the car the electronics and stuff all worked fine. When I got home I tested the battery in my main remote and it came back flat, would this flat battery in the remote have caused the car to stop dead?

Hi..the battery in the remote only powers the central locking signal...I would be looking for a loose/corroded battey terminal and any earth wires....and water ingres around the fusebox....

Thanks for your help. Battery Terminals seem to be good, gave them a clean up. Cleaned a ground within the fuse box and the front, and a ground that was to the right of the battery. Are there any other grounds that I should be looking for?

Default Several earths

Hi, There are several Earth points, any of which can cause problems. Most of the relevant ones are on inner wing locations under fuse box/battery tray and on drivers side under coolant reservoir etc.
IMPORTANT ....when you clean these and replace, smear them generously with marine grade wool grease. Use this on battery terminals too. It's awesome stuff, doesn't wash off, doesn't attack plastics and resists salts etc. I learned the hard way how important earth connections are.
It's also worth keeping in mind on these models, and the 307 that weak battery and carelessly connecting and reconnecting the battery etc can totally corrupt the electronics. Follow carefully, the correct routine for this and always avoid the car dropping into economy mode (weak battery) .

(Lanoshield Lanolin Marine 250 ml marine grease to stop corrosion/ protect from water

This is eco-friendly ( made from sheeps wool), can be used on electrical components and anywhere that you want to protect from water and corrosion. Please note that the grease does not wash off even if jet washed to 200 bar or 3000 psi so perfect for boats, trailers, tools etc.)
