Default 407 Coupe 2.7 Diesel EGR Cleaning

Hi Guys,

I have been searching to no success on what and how to spray my EGR cleaner into my 407 2.7 Coupe.

I have heard this is a very easy job but I know ZERO about engines and I have the Anti pollution engine light on which has been diagnosed as a blocked EGR valve and I have heard this cleaner works wonders (garage wants to replace the valve without trying to clean it first )

Has anybody please got a picture of the hose I need to remove and where the actual air intake is (as that's where the spray goes).

Thank you all for any help!!! (I feel so emasculated not knowing )

hi, the egrs are a bit of as pig on the 2.7 (there are 2) you will to try and find out if its front or rear. have you tried the tank additive method and a good thrash? i blanked mine but still get the warning on dash.

Wynns EGR cleaner is a spray and fairly easy to use. However if it is badly blocked the spray won't do that much good. You'd need to get the EGR valve off and clean it directly.

Find the air filter, find the pipe that is connected to it and spray there. That's how I did mine.

Thanks so far guys.

Mine is the rear EGR valve (the worst apparently).

I have tried the tank additive and that didn't work, there is no way I have the skill, patience or knowledge to take the EGR valve off (also heard the back one needs the engine to be dropped to remove) to clean.

Garage now wants to replace it (they haven't tried the spray) which will cost me in the region of 300.00 + bills (150.00 for part and 150.00 for labour of dropping the engine to replace it).

I want to try this spray first but I honestly do not even know where the air intake is or things like the air filter is

I might be beyond help and just need to fork out

yep the rear is a pig to get to, not sure its engine dropping needed. if you go to the citroen c6 owners forum there is downloads on there that can help removal or cleaning. i blanked my front and rear but access is very tight. if you can get it replaced for 300 inc parts i would say thats pretty cheap.

Well that's slightly comforting to know it might not need the engine to be dropped.
I will check out the Citroen forum as per your suggestion, so thanks for that.

I was and am thinking of getting them blanked but only if I can find a capable person/garage and if it doesn't cause the engine light to come on.

That is what bothers me at the min, I know it isn't a huge deal the EGR being blocked but the engine light is frustrating, especially when you have passengers and they notice.

I might just get that price confirmed and bite the bullet for the replacement and then blank it off at the same time (well get them too).

Thanks.

I'll be getting a quote by the end of the week and will post it here.

In fact I will get 2 quotes, one from Peugeot and one from a Peugeot specialist.
