Question 407 Coupé Door handle not opening from the inside

Hi,

Fairly new here, only had the car 3 weeks.

I was wondering if anyone has had this same issue or knows anything:
Basically, the passenger door is refusing to open from the inside (as if it's deadlocked), but still opens and locks/unlocks properly on the outside.
It's quite inconvenient for passengers who have to then either put the window down of I have to let them out like a chauffeur!

It did this once in the first week I had it, but when I locked and unlocked the car again, it worked again for a few days, now it's just refusing to open at all from the inside. Due to it stopping and starting working, I assume it's not the cable and it's more likely the locking mechanism?

Any special ways to take the door card off too to have a look? and anything in particular I should look for?

Any ideas or tips would be useful.

Many thanks

I would suspect the cable over any other cause, same thing happened with a relatives corsa almost exactly as you have described. No idea how the door card comes off though..... most likely hidden screws and plastic clips ( tis the modern way)

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to give it a go a weekend if the weather isn't too bad!

As I said, I wasn't suspecting the cable though as it started working again for a short period of time first. If the cable had broken, I thought it would have just never worked again (like it is now).

On my 406 there are 3 sets of rods that lead to the door mechanism - two from the inside handle ( open and lock ) and one from the outside handle - it may just be that one rod is not quite secured in place and 'pops' out when you pull the handle..??

Short of having a look its just clutching at straws, but try a bit of WD40 on the inside of the mechanism while the door card is off..
