Default 407 2.7HDI 2008 rear spring only as a set?

Rear right side spring is broken in half and service claims that this can only be replaced as a full set including shock absorber. Part available only as original and 400+ .

Is there really no way to just replace the spring? Or is my only option either to pay or look for a 2nd hand part?

if yours has the self levelling suspension then i think the spring and shock come as a complete unit, and as rule of thumb you always change shocks and springs on an axle not just a corner.
Only option is new as second hand unit could have faulty shock or only last a week
