Default 406 coupe hdi

Just a quick question,
02 black Peugeot 406 hdi coupe 135000 mls, a bit beaten up on drivers side. Is it worth buying for small money or am i buying a load of problems. I think the belt has been changed.

I had 2 406 coupes before, yet petrols. Couldn't advise you much, but if they are looked after well - you will love it. It is absolutelly fabulous to drive, fap can be sorted out within a budget of 100 (guide in this forum). Looking to what has been changed it looks like owner wasn looking after it well as these are expensive repairs so you are good to go for a long ownership if no huge problems arrise such as worn engine, head gasket etc

Overall things to look out for are:
- squeeling pulley which, if brakes, may ruin your engine.
- check cream under the oil cap
- check water for oil
- after a test drive check water level again (if test drive is possible)
- engine mounts are weak on them, common problem even with 407s
- electrical seats not heating or heating non-stop
- seat switches not working
- seat cables to get to the back are broken
- air blower is working not good as teethed wheel inside some kind of mechanism is broken
- check if remote is working properly

There are many things that can go wrong with peugeot, but I had TWO 406 coupes and loved both of them. Nice car to drive, comfortable, fuel efficient, many parts same as saloon...

Here you will find more then you can imagine about 406 Coupe.

Good luck with it if you decide to go for it.
