Default Motor / fan engaging at startup / Sensor? Misfire

Hoping someone can help.

When I start my 2001 model 406 2.0 petrol in the morning it seems to engage a fan of some sort between the air filter housing and the actual intake pipe in the fender area. I can hear the motor / fan running for a minute or so and then it disengages.

I'm taking for granted that this fan blows possibly MORE or WARMER air into the intake on cold startup.

When this motor / fan is engaged, the engine seems to misfire.
When it stops, it stops misfiring ALMOST entirely.

Is there a sensor between the Air Cleaner box and this fan that I can clean?
I have looked for a MAF sensor and I cannot find it on this model.
(I saw a youtube video with an exact engine as mine but no MAF on mine
in that area of the intake?)

Please help!
Thanks

Its the aux air fan and they run when cold to clean up emissions so it may be leaning off the mix too much you could unplug the wire to the pump see if it improves

Thanks very much!

Where would I find the plug for the fan?
I've looked around the area but can't seem to pinpoint it.

Could I just leave it unplugged? Or would it cause an error code?

Do you have any idea where I could look for the MAF sensor?

Cheers!
