Default High revs in neutral

Hi,

I have a 2000 406. Just a couple of days ago the number of revolutions i very high when have neutral gear. Also when driving with gear, the number of revolutions does not decline under 2000, keeping the car at steady speed or accelerating.

Any thoughts?

It just like the gas pedalīs minimum has stuck at 2000 or so revs.
