Default Electrical fault.

Hi everyone,
As a new member to this forum, I am hoping someone will point me in the right direction to remedy a fault I have with my Peugeot 406 estate Hdi 110hp.
The problem is when I turn the ignition key, there are no lights at all on the dash, if I turn the key further, the engine tries to start.
Battery fully charged and renewed. This is an intermittent fault and seems to eventually correct itself and the car will run perfectly normal until the next time it occurs.
Very frustrating as the fault always lets me down at the worst moment.
Last week it was necessary to call out the break down to get going again, the mechanic said, alternator is OK.

Anyone had any experience with this problem?

Faulty ignition switch would be my first bet. Check for power in and out when switched to on position. Fuse27 should be powered up with ignition on.

Default Electrical Fault

Hi WillNZ,

Thanks for the quick response to my post. I will certainly check out the ignition switch the next time the fault occurs. Intermittent faults are the worst and this always happens at the worst time.

Regards James2
