Central locking issues
Just have a quick question in regards to central locking.
My 2001 406 has struggled with it's central locking for a while.
They key was replaced a few years ago and is fully synced to the car.
The issue is if you press the lock button on the key the car locks and then unlocks instantly.
If you lock the car on the passenger door, the entire car locks fine.
If you unlock with the remote key or the drivers door the passenger door will not unlock but the rest of the car will.
Unlocking the passenger door unlocks the entire car.
Occasionally if you press the lock button it will lock the car, but this has become rarer in the recent months.
Is it most likely to be the solenoid or a broken cable or something?
Was thinking of stripping it down tomorrow and seeing if there was anything obvious.
Many thanks for you help

From what you describe, it seems that the door lock motor of the passenger door is (most times) not working.
If one of the doors lock motors does not confirm that it has closed, the system will open everything again, as a signal that there is something wrong. Also the indicator lights will not flash.
By using the key for the passenger door you are mechanically operating the door lock. The passenger door lock will therefore be able to confirm it is closed. Apparently all other door locks are fine, so this works to close the whole car.
My advice would be to get out the passenger door lock motor, check for obvious blockages, and otherwise get a replacement motor.
