Unhappy Battery light on, 2.0 HDi.

So my battery light is on when i start my car and it stays on, but when i press gas pedal it turns off, and when i release it the light turns on again. As far as i understand my battery is getting charged only while i accelerate and when i stop pressing gas pedal it stops charging... Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Alternator probably needs an overhaul, possibly just new brushes. Check output with a voltmeter, you should see around 14.5volts, if it is less when idling alternator is not producing the goods. Chances are the battery is still being charged OK unless you are spending a lot of time sitting in jams. You can get them exchange from factors or take yours to an auto electrician to it overhauled.

This could also be being caused by a faulty diode pack in the alternator.
