Default 406 starting probem

Hi I have a 406 hdi 110 that starts sometimes sometimes not, when trying to start it tries to fire but if it dosnt start at that first fire it wont start then I have to wait a couple of minutes and try again,
any help would be great

can you pump the 'bulb' in the fuel line-it sounds like an air leak...?
keep your foot to the boards too as this'll help let the air through/purge the air remember to let it off when it fires though.....just like if you replaced the fuel filter

Thanks for the quick reply, it dosnt have a bulb it has a low pressure pump in the tank, when I try to start it its like one or two cylinders fire then it seems like some kind of sensor is telling it somethings wrong, when it does start it sounds a bit clattery

Have you tried tapping the top of the tank pump, cleaning or replacing?

the pump in the tank works fine took the pipe of the filter turned on ignition diesel everywhere

hopefully I've found the problem a mate said it could your cam sensor, I took it out gave it a good clean made sure the air gap was set correct and it seems fine now hope this helps somebody else
