Default 406 Instrument cluster probs

Hi, Does anybody know if the instrument clusters are inter-changable between cars, I have a 2000 406 2.0 hdi 110hp i'm working on at the moment.
The car started to send the dash mad with mostly all of the lights on when the car is off/ key is out of the ignition, It starts and runs fine but no rev, speedo temp, etc till the bsi goes to sleep then dash is switched off.
I had it on planet and there was no codes stored so assuming it was the bsi i sent it for repair, The company can't re-create the symptoms and want the dash aswell.
I was just wondering about looking for a replacement cluster from a donor to keep the costs down, Any thoughts.

Default Check comunications cabling

I'd had the same problem and was lead to believe it was the BSI and dashboard. Was nothing to do with them, it was the communications cable running from the dash to the central procesisng unit. Get your auto electrician to check it, mine actually in the end by passed some of the cables with another cable and now panel is working again.

I would agree its possibly wiring rather than the cluster bad earth possibly but to answer the question you can swap clusters but the mileage may change to whatever is the highest recorded between bsi and cluster I have working clusters here if you want to try one
