Default 2002 HDi 90 Very slight 'lumpiness' at idle?

Hi all

Got my first Pug this year back in March, great car and very much prefer it to my old mk1 (99) Focus. It's a 2002 HDi 90, 162k on the clock back then, currently at 167k.

The person I bought it from was a good friend who was moving abroad so I got it for 500, very happy with that. Only a few minor issues that he was honest about. He'd had it for 2 years himself and prior to that it has had 5 owners and had travelled to various countries around the world (even New Zealand!). He doesn't know much about what maintenance has been done previously and he hadn't done a great deal himself so over the next few weeks/months as finances allow I'll start doing a few bits - reading these forums makes me want to start tinkering lol so I've got a few questions. The oil filter looks very dirty on the outside so I guess that hasn't been replaced for some time, an oil and filter change is on my list of things to do.

Anyway it's my first diesel car so I'm not sure how they normally feel but I took my mum out in it a couple of weeks ago and she thought it was running a little lumpy when idling, I'd noticed it too but didn't think anything of it really and just thought that's how diesels are. Would any of you think it's anything to worry about or need looking at? It drives fine, starts first time every time it's never caused me any trouble. It doesn't happen continuously but just a little judder here and there when sat still at traffic lights for example.

Hi, welcome to the club, its a nice looking 406 you have there.

Lumpiness on idle could be several things, but judging by the history I would first suggest some injector cleaner ( Millers etc ) and start using the super diesel for a tank or two
