Unhappy Clutch 4007

I've just had to fork out over 1000 for a new clutch after only 42k miles. There was also an oil leak into the clutch. Is it right that this is a common problem, AND is it right that about 40k miles is about all you can expect from a 4007 clutch.....

Got over 50k from ours before it started to judder. New clutch, dmf and slave cylinder was 900. Torque to weight ratio is quite a bit better than a BMW X5 3.0D, so even if you dodge the early-car leaky seal problem you're not likely to get a huge mileage out of it.

Welcome to 4x4 ownership where everything lasts half as long and costs twice as a normal car. It's a bit like Freelander centre diffs, that last 50-70k if you're lucky - people buy them but can't afford to run them properly, and now half the remaining series I Freelanders are FWD as a result.
