Default 4007 feels tight on full lock

I have an 08 GT with 68k. On full lock either left or right I and finding that there is resistance to rolling, this is confirmed when I dip the clutch and the car comes to a standstill like the brakes are on.

This happens between 3/4 and full lock.

There is also a rumbling from underneath that to me sounds central and towards the front of the vehicle.

I have had the vehicle to a couple of mechanics, 1 was a gearbox specialist and nothing definite has been found. He thinks potentially transfer box, but cannot be sure.

I have driven another 4007 and have found that it free wheels normally so I know it is not a characteristic of the vehicle.

The vehicle does this when in 2wd mode, and this had been checked out as working, it is not stuck in 4wd.

The brakes have been checked, they are not binding.

The tyres are the same make on each axle and have the same tread on each axle. Have tried swapping wheels and same occurs.

Has anyone had any experience of faults with the drive / transmission on these vehicles?

I should also add that about a month ago the transfer box was found to be very low on oil after a bolt had been left out following a clutch change about 3k ago.

Would the transfer box cause this resistance with the wheels turned?

Is there anything else to check?

Help please

I have had some more testing done.

Jacking up the drivers side of the vehicle, rotating the front wheel causes the rear wheel to also rotate.

This happens in all positions of the rotating switch and with both the engine running and off.

The car is stuck in 4wd and not I was told by 2 previous garages, 1 of which was a Peugeot main dealer that it wasn't.

Has anyone had this problem?

How is the system actuated, I believe it to be in the rear diff.

Any thoughts please.
