Default Towbar Electrics Activation

Hi Guys,

I have fitted genuine peugeot electrics and the indicator lights are not working, though they come on constantly not flashing, when I do an actuator test on diagbox. I'm hoping this is down to the electrics not being activated yet. Can someone confirm if this is normal as I want to fix any issues before I leave it in. Got two costs thus far for activation one for 25 + VAT and another for 135 + VAT. I'm in belfast so no guesses for who was charging the later... Anyways can someone please confirm that no indicators present is normal so I can book it in please?

I have just finished putting a towbar with genuine Citroen electrics onto my C5 and I haven't (yet) set the BSI to recognise the electrics. I plugged my normal trailer board in and all lights, including flashers, worked properly.

I'm off to collect a towbar and Peugeot electrics for the 308 tomorrow so if you can wait a couple of months I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks Paul, but I bit the bullet and am leaving it with a local dealer on Wed to activate the electrics. Fingers crossed they can sort it.
For info I asked my Dad, refired peugoet mechanic, to have a look at the electrics and he says all look fine however he did say that when he got electrics for his 2017 3008 the peugeot dealership had it for 4 hours trying to activate it, should be a 30 min job, as they could get it activated. When they did the side lights are constantly on once its plugged in and ignition on. Lets hope its something easy!

Rab (I hope that's a good guess), I wonder if you might be able to help me.

I bought the towbar and electrics yesterday. When I got them home I discovered a couple of things that I didn't know about. The wiring loom and electronics is different to the Westfalia one (which I expected - the C5 one is not the same as supplied by Citroen) but that in turn has given me a problem.

Could you look at the photos to see if the electrickery is the same as yours please? There are two separate looms and a plastic box of electronics (the Westfalia one is a single loom). When the towbar was taken off a couple of wires were cut. In the second photo you can see the cut wires. They are all colour coded green/yellow so are presumably earth wires. The thick one obviously goes to an earth stud but I'm not sure about the two slim ones. Do they also go to an earth stud? Possibly they're for some other purpose and are joined together?

Perhaps you still have the installation instructions for the electrics? That might help.

One other thing. It's not a problem (yet!) but I'm curious. The Westfalia supplied bar has a code SI220 and this bar is coded SI200. I wonder which one you have? They're both made by Westfalia as the detachable portion is the same.

Hi Paul,

Yeah these look pretty much identical to the ones I fitted and yes those are both earth wires, c and f, as per attached photos. The second photo shows where the should be affixed. I don't know the make and model of electrics as I'm afraid as I chucked the box and don't see it on the instructions. I can scan these instructions if you need them?
